about

In 1985 the Psycodaisies split up. Wilf the great artist, writer and singer for the band sadly died in 2002.
A combination of events saw the return of a revised Psycodaisies from an 18 year slumber.
Graham had virtually given up guitar playing but when working in Louisville, USA in 2001 he made a chance trip to a guitar shop with a colleague who was buying a vintage National guitar. While waiting G spotted a Godin A6 hanging on the wall and he took it down and had a play - he was hooked.
Returning from The States Graham, at the request of Ian Churchward, began working on a series of CD sleeves for The Morrisons and Ian’s own Legendary Ten Seconds project. Then in 2002 Ian invited Graham to do a recording session at Rocklea studio Torquay and four sessions later with the aid of drummer Guy Bolt they had recorded enough material for two albums - This one, ‘Grimbol Old Porker’ and ‘Kisscut’.
For the first time Graham wrote all the tunes and words with help and encouragement from Ian. Guitar melodies were dubbed onto the backing tracks as a guide for Ian to sing. These were mostly removed in the final album mixes. Here in the ‘redacted’ version of GOP they are reinstated ‘warts and all’ in instrumental only versions. The full vocal versions are available on CDs GPV023 and GPV025 or selections from both albums are on the (digital only) Legendary Ten Seconds ‘Wonderclock’ GPV034.
‘Grimbol Old Porker’ is the name of a painting made by Wilf and given to G as a gift. Old Porker, Squint, The Angel, Erik The Terror and Derwood are all characters drawn or imagined by Wilf. Bloody Meadows and Jack White are inspired by local Westcountry history. Faerytales II, Velocette, Peace Hall, Under The Weather, Kerbstone Twist are inspired by G’s own history.
This all comes dedicated (and with an apology) to all the Stephen, Steven, Stefan, Stephane, Stefano (and Stephanie’s) that Graham knew or knows including Stephen (Wilf) Willmott, Steve Batty, Steve Ball and Stephane Lord.
Grimbol Old Porker features the voice of Freda; Velocette features the voice and guitar of Wilfred Wellesley Perkins; Derwood features a vintage recording of Teddy Roe’s Band made in Steve Batty’s flat in Kings Road, Sherborne just past midnight on Pack Monday about 1986 (a great memory); All tracks feature the Godin A6 and some a Watkins Rapier.
