about

'Fairie Tales In The Attic' takes it’s name from a track on Psycodaisies second tape LP - 'Psychojelly & The Giggling Clocks'. This ‘Fairie Tales’ collection is the last ‘Daisies recordings that had vocal contributions from Wilf.
Psycodaisies had added to it's membership with Jenny on keyboards and Nancy on vocals, they used a mix of 'live' drummer and drum machine for gigs. A massive two-weekend recording session was organised in April 1986. The first session had Charlie Keen drumming new expanded versions of tracks from 'Send No Flowers' and 'Psycho Jelly' with a couple of quiet new tunes. The second weekend had Andi Tuck from Rekk Of The Hessbruss drumming - he had become the ‘live’ drummer for Psycodaisies at the time - That recording session was all new material.
The plan was for Wilf and the newer band members, Jennie (keyboards) and Nancy (vocals), to contribute to both sets of recordings and create a ‘far-out’ vinyl releasable album. The PR and comms department cocked-up royally and, to cut a long story short, the band split. Surprisingly there seemed to be no interest in healing the wounds and get back together again so for many years the tracks were left unfiinshed.
After 'Real Crazy Apartment' was recorded in 1986 Wilf did record the vocal tracks on some of the older songs. There was another long gap and in 2002 Wilf agreed to finish the rest of the vocals. He was given a rough mix-tape to write words and practice vocals along to. He worked on them and gave Graham the song titles. A date was agreed to do the recording when Wilf died unexpectedly on 17 September at his home in Yeovil - his song words were never found.
Selected tracks were subsequently released on CD collections including the ‘Under The Pavement The Beach’ CD in 2016.
'Fairie Tales' collects all the Charlie Keen drummed tracks from the first weekend of recording with Wilf’s vocals and some additional ‘found’ sounds inspired by him and his song titles. The rest of the tracks recorded at the time with Andi Tucks drumming will be available on a revised version of 'Under The Pavement The Beach'.
